Podolí Cooperative Housing
Studio Císler-Pazdera
Cooperative housing has a tradition in many countries, where it has proven to be a sustainable and affordable model. In this project, we have chosen the concept of cooperative housing as a possible solution to the lack of housing.
The assigned plot is located on the border of several urban structures - mainly interwar block buildings and villa districts growing from the slope above Podolí. The house is complemented by a corner at the intersection of Podolská, Sinkuleho and Pod Vyšehradem streets.
We are designing a cooperative apartment building. We focus on modularity, variability and layering. The structure of the house is designed from CLT panels, around which we design winter gardens towards the street, as additional adaptable spaces, which we extend the apartments with and which create a transitional layer between the house and the street. We are designing a gallery for the courtyard. The layout grid allows for variability and changes in the size of individual apartments according to the needs of the residents and the cooperative. The cooperative can moderate their composition and layout. The house is plastered in grey, complemented by red winter gardens and a ground floor with green ceramic tiles. As an added function, we propose a children's group and shared workshops on the ground floor, and a community greenhouse on the roof.
