Medieval times

The Malovanka traffic junction was an insensitive intervention into the residential
neighbourhood of Břevnov and acts as a rough scar across the face of this very peaceful part of
Prague. The design seeks to heal this place in a proven way. The urban design is inspired by a
medieval city with dynamically changing public spaces, while respecting the functionality and
importance of the traffic junction. The district adapts to the order of the roads below. Whilst the
design masks what actually happens underneath the platform, the materiality of the public
space is its direct reference as the stripes symbolize the movement of cars under the platform.
The platform is built on a complex network of columns and beams that support the structure.
They thus ensure that Malovanka becomes a city again.
